COMING TO TERMS WITH YOUR HEARING LOSS

How to Achieve Your Best Hearing Experience

How much do you know about your hearing loss and are you doing everything you can to give yourself the best possible hearing experience? Based on my own personal experience, I didn’t want anything to do with hearing loss, as I didn’t want to be associated with its negative stereotypes.

But the more you know and understand about your hearing loss, the easier it will be for you to live with it and do things that will improve your ability to understand speech and your general well being.

The goal of this workshop is to accept our hearing loss, demystify the different aspects of hearing loss, and provide techniques to give you the best hearing experience possible. This will make all the difference in living a positive and healthy life with hearing loss.

Workshop #2:

HEAR AND BE HEARD

Target Audience: Organizational Groups

Goal: To improve communications skills based on strategies developed and used by people with hearing loss.

Summary:

“Poor communications” tend to head the list of complaints when people are asked to describe their biggest group challenges.

As a person with hearing loss I was surprised to learn this. For obvious reasons, communications is challenging for people with hearing loss. But I was amazed that the same issue affects everyone, whether hearing impaired or not.

That is why we put together a workshop on communication strategies. These strategies have been developed and refined by people with hearing loss. They make all the difference towards improving communications.

Conclusion:

There are close to fifty million Americans with some degree of hearing loss and 65% of them either in the workforce or educational institutions. So statistically you can bet there are people in your group with some degree of hearing loss. And since hearing loss is a communication disorder, it affects everyone they communicate with. That's why these strategies are so important for improving communications.
